Kim Evans talks about body cleansing

The Devil and Monsanto: One in the Same?

I’m interested in the spiritual nature of food; I’m interested in it because I believe the state of our internal bodies plays a direct role in our ability to connect to and receive guidance from our higher power.

If you think about it for a moment, the story of Adam and Eve clearly tells us that humankind’s downfall from grace was, and I’ll argue is, directly related to putting wrong foods in the body. It’s the literal interpretation, and folks, I didn’t make it up.

A couple of weeks ago, I was reading a newsletter from my local co-op. It was a story that made my stomach freeze, and my face twist in disgust. I couldn’t help it, it was an automatic reaction. I was reading about Monsanto, a primary maker of genetically manufactured “foods” and the Bush administration’s last minute attempt to even further deregulate genetically modified foods in the U.S.

Genetically modified foods are currently unlabeled, and the FDA relies on the manufacturer’s word that they’re safe. There are no outside testing requirements. Here’s to hoping that Obama’s administration will run things differently. After all, how much more free rein can we give to a company that’s growing foods with pesticides built into the genetic structure and with seeds that won’t reproduce as nature intended, without of course spraying some Monsanto produced chemicals on them?

But what sparked this article, was that as I was reading, my eyes glanced over to the prior page. My eyes landed directly on a pitchfork: The sign of the Devil. I don’t believe it was a coincidence.

Let’s back up for a second. If the literal interpretation of the Bible’s story of Adam and Eve was correct, what would you presume the wrong foods to be putting in the body are?

Do you think they might include the pesticides and herbicides in non-organic foods? Do you think they might include the thousands of chemicals in processed foods? If this line of reasoning is in anyway correct, it makes sense to me that genetically altered foods are straight from the Devil. Does it make sense to you?

Research is continually being released about the powerful benefits of whole foods from the earth. Research is also continually being released about the dangers of the chemicals used in processed foods, and in my way of thinking, genetically altered foods are an extreme version of processed foods – with bodily and environmental outcomes that are both totally unpredictable and definitely disturbing. The only question left is: Why are we still using them?
